One of the most wonderful and beleaguered blues singers of the 20th Century, Billie Holliday is a musical icon for me and was also an absolute joy to draw. Keeping the palette simple with black pencil and white chalk allowed me to evoke the beauty and pain of this wonderful singer and a pre colour era.
